Our Ethos

The mission of Loreto College is to “provide a Christian, caring community of learning, which seeks in an atmosphere of mutual cooperation, respect and justice, to develop the talents and potential of all members”.

The ethos of the school has not changed since it was established in 1881 and it is focused mainly around the holistic development of the students. The school recognises and respects that each student is unique and wishes to provide a safe, positive learning environment for its community. The mission also emphasises that the school is a community of students, staff, and parents all working together for the benefit of its students. The school also encourages staff members to undergo training and “ongoing professional development” to enhance the rich learning environment for staff and students alike.

The Loreto tradition is centred in God and values such as truth, freedom, justice, sincerity and joy. Loreto schools aim to encourage respect between staff and students and also encourage a selfless and generous spirit with a willingness to serve others, especially those most in need.
