Sincere thanks to Fr Darby and to Sr Anna for the wonderful liturgy that was offered on behalf of the Leaving Certificate class of 2020 on June 25th. Covid 19 presented us with the unfortunate situation whereby our much valued students could not receive the usual and much cherished traditional last day of school marked by their in-school awards ceremony, Leaving Certificate mass, and farewell from all of the staff of Loreto College.
In line with restrictions, a small representative of staff and students attended the liturgy which was available to all our students and their families via the live broadcast on Mullingar parish’s webcam. Head Girl, Anna Fallon, Deputy Head Girls Nicola Brennan and Niamh Mullarky were joined by students Siúin Bergin and Caoimhe Scally – both the youngest of five siblings respectively who attended Loreto College over the years. Our choir and musicians were wonderfully represented by Maeve Ryan, Aoife Nally and Nóirín Barret, led by music teacher, Ms Lynn Brophy.
Our students were joined in the liturgy by principal Ms Marese Bell, Deputy Principal Ms Carmel O’Grady, Year Head Ms Bridie Smyth, Board of Management teacher representative and Religion teacher, Ms Olivia Callaghan and school chaplain, Sr Anna McAuliffe. We are grateful for the participation of two of our students’ parents in the liturgy also – Siúin’s mother Clare for lighting the graduation candle, and Anna’s mother Irene for her involvement in the Offertory. Thanks is extended to all, and indeed to all of our students and their families who joined the ceremony from their homes.
Sincere thanks to Sr Anna for putting together the liturgy and to Fr Darby for facilitating this for our students and for his lovely words. Fr Darby’s homily can be viewed via the link below.
Best wishes to all the graduating Class of 2020, and, in the words of your Head Girl, Anna Fallon, “Thank you to you all for the memories! Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir!”
