Leaving Cert. Year Head, Ms Bridie Smyth with some of the students of the class of 2020 who all received over 500 points in their Leaving Certificate.

On Thursday 10th of September, Loreto College invited students who achieved outstanding Leaving Certificate results back to the school, to participate in a socially distanced meet and greet with Principal Marese Bell and other staff. The school environment was markedly different from the one that these students left behind in March, however it took little time for the sense of community to return, as staff offered their heartfelt congratulations to the students for their exceptional academic efforts.

Carmel O’Grady, Deputy Principal at Loreto College Mullingar, said, “We had 144 students complete the Leaving Certificate, and many of them exceeded our expectations- we’re thrilled for them. We would have loved to have been able to host our usual awards evening, to give these students the recognition they deserve for their remarkable academic success, especially in the face of such difficult times. But nonetheless, it was great to see our girls in such high spirits, and we wish them all the very best for the journey ahead.”

Of the 144 students who completed their leaving certificate as the class of 2020 at Loreto, 36 received scores over 500. Four students received scores over 600 points, including Rose Dolan, who achieved a perfect score of 625.

Mr Garry (Economics & English), Ms Bell (Principal) and Mr Masterson (Chemistry & Maths) with some of the Leaving Certificate candidates.

The school community extends their congratulations and heartfelt wishes for success to each and every member of the class of 2020 in their future endeavours. Guímid gach rath agus séan oraibh amach anseo.
