“On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure-chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11
Like the Wise Men in the Gospel of Matthew bringing gifts to the infant Jesus, I too can bring gifts from the treasure-chest of my heart and life. In there, I find the gift of gratitude for all that God has given me: the gift of life; the gift of each new day; the gift of opportunity that every new day presents to me. Each day I can reach into that treasure-chest and trust that God is near, trust in my hope for all His promises, and trust in my belief in what is unseen.
On this Feast of the Epiphany, thank you, Lord, for all that my treasure-chest holds. May the star stay over the house of my heart where you dwell so that I can pause each day and be aware of Your presence within me and in all those around me.
Lord, may we have enough happiness to keep us agreeable.
May we have enough freedom to keep us happy.
May we have enough failure to keep us humble.
May we have enough faith to bring light in dark times.
May we have enough hope to look forward.
May we have enough love to give us comfort.
