8th May Update
The Department of Education and Skills have announced that “fairness and certainty for our Leaving Certificate students is now paramount” and that “it is not possible to hold the Leaving Certificate examinations this summer”. All candidates will now be offered a State certificate of Calculated Grades, which can be used in the pursuit of further education or employment. Further clarification on what this means for our students in Loreto College to follow.

29th April Update
Junior Cycle students to be awarded a certificate of completion by the Department of Education and Skills
23rd April Update
The Leaving Certificate examinations are to commence on July 29th this year.
10th April update
Leaving Certificate examinations are postponed, and may take place in late July or early August of this year.
Junior Certificate examinations are cancelled, with the proposal that classroom based examinations and assessments take place in September for this year’s Third Year students.

19th March update
Oral and practical examinations for state examinations have been cancelled in an announcement by Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh TD. These assessments were due to take place from March 23 until April 3, and students who were to take these assessments will now be awarded full marks for this section of the examination.
The subjects affected in Loreto College are as follows:
Leaving Certificate
– Modern Foreign Languages (French, German, Spanish) and Irish
– The pratical performance component of Music
Junior Cycle
– The practical performance compoment of Junior Certificate Music and Home Economics
The announcement also detailed that project work deadlines have been extended from April until May 15.
